Continental and General Tires Top Tire Rack Testing

Continental and General Tires Top Tire Rack Testing
The ContiCrossContact UHP from Continental Tire North America, Inc. (CTNA), is ranked #1, and the General Tire Grabber UHP is a close second, in an online consumer satisfaction survey of street/sport truck summer tires conducted by The Tire Rack.

“We are extremely pleased and gratified that consumers have put our tires in the top two spots in this Tire Rack survey,” said Andreas Gerstenberger, CTNA’s Executive VP of Sales and Marketing. “Both Continental and General Tire brand tires are engineered to the highest standards of performance, handling and comfort, and these results tell us that consumers understand and demand those features in their tires.”

The ContiCrossContact UHP received “superior” performance ratings for wet and dry traction, cornering stability, steering response, and ride and noise comfort. Featuring an asymmetric tread for enhanced braking and reduced hydroplaning, its bionic contour reduces braking distances and improves cornering stability. The tread compound is equipped with advanced silica technology for lower rolling resistance and enhanced wet and dry grip, and the tire also offers a rib protector to help shield expensive rims from curb damage.

The ContiCrossContact UHP has a UTQG rating of 420 for tread, AA for traction and A for temperature. It comes in a variety sizes to fit 16” to 24” wheel diameters.

The General Tire Grabber UHP earned “superior” ratings for hydroplaning resistance, wet and dry traction, cornering stability, steering response and whether consumers said they would purchase it again. Its strong performance comes from an aggressive V-shaped directional tread pattern featuring center-to-shoulder grooves, coupled with a silica tread compound for superb control on wet roads. A new flat-belt contour, engineered with shallow slots and increased pattern depth at the shoulders, ensures long, even treadwear; and General’s exclusive advanced sound technology and continuously varying groove angles keep road noise to a minimum.

The Grabber UHP is offered in a wide variety of sizes to fit 15” to 24” wheel diameters. In 55- and above series sizes, Grabbers carry a UTQG rating of 360 for tread, A for traction and A for temperature. Grabbers with aspect ratios below 50 are rated 320 for tread, A for traction and A for temperature.
